I’m happy to report our little Ava is well on the road to recovery…
We had a tough day yesterday with lots of sickness and tears, but today was a lot better.
We took Ava downstairs tonight and she was able to walk around playing in the conference rooms and hiding behind the lobby pillars.
I never thought I’d be so happy to chase her everywhere!
She managed to eat some soup for lunch and nanna’s been getting LOTS of snuggles.
I’ve attached some pictures so you can see what a difference the CVR (cranial vault reconstruction) surgery has made to Ava’s head shape. I’ll let you figure out the ‘before’ and ‘afters’…
Thanks everyone for your support and love. Like I keep saying… this has been an incredible experience that we have all suffered through, grown from and benefited because of.
love to see her smiling again !!!!!!
Wow! That is an astounding difference so quickly after surgery! Will it continue to change as the swelling goes down etc? How wonderful to have the surgery over with and to have her healing so quickly. Hooray for you!!! 🙂
She is just beautiful. I am so, so, so happy for you. Ava is lucky to have such wonderful and selfless parents. She will be thanking you for this someday. What’s next? How long will you be staying there?
Big Hugs,
Amy
I’ve been following Ava’s progress for a few days now and am genuinely relieved and elated that she’s doing so well and on the mend. I sympathize with you and Brian as parents for what you’ve been through and would like to say, I think Ava looks just perfect. Safe travels home and best wishes to you all.
All my very best wishes for the next days and weeks. We’re off on Sunday. Have a safe trip home!
Love,
Margit
It sounds like Ava is doing very well. What a wonderful story you shared about the generous lady in the restaurant. Say “Hi” to Grandma Brenda for us. We are thinking of you and hope that Ava continues to do well. Rae and Phyl
Hi Melissa:
Mom and Dad (Rae and Phyl) told me about Ava and her journey. We were reading your comments tonight about Ava’s progress and I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you and your family.
Your story of the hotel staff really brings to light the fact that there are many good, kind-hearted people out there.
Wishing you all the best. Char …
Thanks Char! She’s doing much better every day. It’s been quite an ordeal, but I’m hoping to build awareness about craniosynostosis. If we also happen to help remind people about the ‘good in other people’ at the same time, then all the better!
Take care, and thanks again for the kind words.
Melissa
It’s great to see Ava doing so well, and to hear her recovery is going smoothly. Thanks for all the updates. I hope you and Brian are looking after yourselves as well. Hugs to all of you, and I hope Ava continues her wonderful progress!
Melissa,
You all did it! It’s over and now she can continue to heal. Your little beauty amazes me and she looks fabulous.
